Mattress Sizes and Information

JUST ADD A STANDARD INNERSPRING MATTRESS. THAT’S IT!

NO Box Spring is required!

We use a solid wood strut system, which runs the full length of the bed, as the platform for the mattress. This support system is extremely strong and is an integral part of the front bed panel.

Our Murphy Bed systms are designed and built to accommodate industry standard size mattresses. See the table below for mattress dimensions for standard innerspring mattresses. Any other mattress sizes will require a modification to our wall bed system. It is possible that we can modify our system to accommodate other sizes for an additional charge. Contact us for details.

Mattress Thickness should not exceed 12 inches!

When you close your wall bed, you can leave your sheets, blankets and comforter in place. Just be sure to tuck in each of these in order to hide any evidence of such when the bed is completely closed. Many of our customers that purchase Vertical beds will mount a picture on the wall inside the Murphy Bed, which makes the unit more decorative when the bed is open. When using a 12" mattress (maximum size) you will have 2" of space left inside when the bed is closed. The leg rod used to hold the mattress in place will keep the mattress away from your wall-mounted picture when closed. Nonetheless, be sure that your picture is mounted securely just in case the blankets catch on the picture frame.

WE DO NOT SELL MATTRESSES.
It is not economical for us (or you) to sell mattresses. If you need a mattress, it is easier to visit one of the many mattress stores in your area, and find a mattress that meets your comfort level.

If you have an existing mattress of the correct size, you can use it. Some customers are replacing their guest bedroom furniture with a Murphy Bed system. They can then sell the bed furniture and use their existing mattress with their new Murphy Bed system.
